I have been pondering this sad post…….and I got to thinking that maybe you THOUGHT Rhen’s “mission” was supposed to be to give Chloe lifesaving cord blood…….but maybe the Lord wasn’t in a hurry to send him because He knew that they already had a transfusion that was sufficient. After looking at Chloe’s smiling face in the above pictures, I have been wondering if Rhen’s REAL “mission” was to bring Chloe a measure of joy and happiness during her darkest hours. Something to take her mind off her own pain. Something to wake up for each morning and something to give her hope for the future. It was a traumatic time for all of you, and especially traumatic for a little baby to be born at a time of such incredible stress and tension, when it should be a time for quiet, soft, loving cuddles. Sounds like he just needs extra reassurance that he is loved. Children love to hear about when they were babies. Hug him and tell him how much you ALWAYS wanted a little boy, and how happy you were when you found out he was going to be part of your family. Tell him how cute he was and how much you loved him, and how you had to stay at the hospital with Chloe and how happy she was to have a little brother. Try to point out the happy things and not dwell too much on the stressful things because you don’t want him to associate his birth with unhappiness. When he is older, he will be able to separate the two more easily.

Good for you Stacie! Sometimes you just have to be the one to make the first move! Do you remember the Scarlet Monster book? Haha! It is a perfect example of what you are going through. Scarlet moves into her new house and then sits down and waits for company to come. The neighbors peek at her from behind the trees and bushes—not sure what to make of her. She doesn’t understand why they can’t see how beautiful and friendly she is—and cries and is very unhappy. Forgive me for not remembering exactly how it ends, but it seems like she makes treats and invites everyone to come to a party at her house and everything works out great! Now, you don’t have to invite everyone to a party at your house, but you are making steps in the right direction. You are a very unique person and you likely won’t find anyone “just like” you. Just some mother-in-law-ly advice—so you can take it or leave it. You will find, in life, that there are some really great people out there just waiting to be your friend. Some of them may not be as pretty as you, or as fit and trim as you, or as stylish as you, or as “hip” as you, or even in the same age bracket as you, but if you make an effort to get to know them, you will find interesting, talented, funny and admirable personalities and quite often, things that you have in common—and isn’t that how the Lord would have us look at each other? Maybe you could set a goal to introduce yourself to a certain number of people at church each week—make a point of going in and sitting by someone in S.S. and R.S. and introduce yourself. Get their name and ask them where they live and a little bit about them. Nicky Townsend did that exact thing to me when she moved here. We are all guilty of not doing this enough—but maybe you could watch for opportunities to compliment someone on their cute outfit, or hair style or color, or their cute baby, or nail polish color, the wonderful lesson they taught, or whatever. And yes, invite them to dinner—or for popcorn and a movie—or a cookout. Before you know it, things will be sooo much better. Love you Stace! So sorry you are having a hard time. We want you to love it here as much as we do. It will come. Don’t get discouraged.

Your kitchen is so beautiful! And the stairs turned out very cool. I love the idea of using a poem that you love. Your house looks great. If we ever build again (please, no!), I’d better hire you as my design consultant. I was reading on a lower post that you haven’t found anything that doesn’t leave streaks on your floor. I use the wood floor cleaner (that you dilute in a spray bottle and spray onto the floor and wipe off) from Don Aslett’s. It’s called Clean and Brite Neutral Floor Cleaner. I love it. My floor always looks awesome afterward. No streaks, just a nice shiny floor. Don’t know if you have tried that! Anyway – the house looks fabulous. Nice work!

I loved the Gathering too! It was a great read and I can’t wait for the next book. I haven’t read the Fury, but it looks interesting, but maybe I will hold off on that one. I just read “Unearthly” by Cynthia Hands and it is great! It takes place in…. JACKSON, WY!! Really good if you like angel books. The 2nd book comes out in January so you wouldn’t have to wait long. Anyway, Thanks for sharing your thoughts on those books. Miss you guys.

Stress is a literal killer. Do what you can to unwind. Take a few minutes when you feel overwhelmed and do some deep breathing and picture yourself in a calm beautiful location. It will lower your heart rate and help your body better be able to process the stress. Too much stress can equal huge health problems. I know that stress was the trigger for my MS. Take care of yourself. Even if you have to lock yourself in the bathroom for a minute and sit on the floor, do it. You need to.
P.S. (Remember my mice infested Clinton house? I still have nightmares about living there with all of the mice. I feel for you.)

I just read this! Your story of Twilight is the same as mine. I took it to Hawaii for something to read, not really interested. Day 2 in Hawaii when we found tumor #2 and had to spend a lot of time in the hotel with Marcus, then in the hospital when we got home, I dove into it head-first! Completely trying to get away, as far as I could. Amazing that a simple book could pull us both through some rough times! Especially when I hadn’t ever read a book that long since…. ever.
So glad to know I am not the only one!

I am so sorry your kitties died. If you plan on getting any more, I would suggest finding some kittens that are around 6 months old. We got Stella when she was 6 months and she survived Jax. She was big enough to defend herself but yet kitten enough to play. Little kittens are fun, but very fragile, as you can tell.
Your home is looking so beautiful! Sure miss you guys. I hope things move along quickly and that your house in the trees is finished soon! Hope all is well with your monkies.

I’m so excited to see this in person! It is looking great. And, of course, since we haven’t seen it in over 2 months it looks like TONS has been done, where as for you living there it probably seems slow. So sorry to hear about the well water. We have been thinking about digging a well because our water is seasonal at our cabin and we have to store a whole bunch to use in the winter. You’ll have to tell us how to go about it. We are probably coming up next weekend. We’ll try to stop by if that works for you guys.

that’s actually Spence on the ladder, he did most of the nailing while i did the cutting so theoretically he should be in pain not me. Must have been the pallets of tile of those 8′ tall solid core doors that did it to me…

The poop problem stinks….no pun intended. Luckily I have never dealt with that one before, but I hear that if you duck tape the diaper and put a onsie on them before nap time, it can help….at least slow them down!

I saw your dilema regarding countertops, and was wondering if you’ve ever looked at Silestone. That’s what we put in our house. It has the look of granite, but NEVER needs to be sealed. We’ve had ours 5 years and it looks as good as the day we got it–and I have boys!! I love ours!! Thought you might want to consider it. Let me know if you’d like some pictures of ours, and I’ll send you some.

crazy how tall our snow banks are. At the eave height there that bank is about 10′ from the actual ground level. The house will be so cozy.
